To become an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI), there are three parts:
 

1. Part 1 - Theory Test

   • 100 multiple choice questions (50 theory, 50 instructor-based)

   • Cost: £81

   • Training: Free
      

2. Part 2 - Practical Driving Test

   • 5 components: eyesight check, vehicle safety questions, general driving, manoeuvres, independent driving

   • Training: Approx. 10-15 hours, costing between £400 to £600

   • Test Fee: £111
      

3. Part 3 - Instructional Ability Test

   • 60 hours of training to meet DVSA standards for delivering lessons

   • Training Fee: £2400 (at £40/hour)

   • Test Fee: £111

   • Trainee Licence (PDI Licence for 6 months): £140
      

Total Estimated Cost: £3,443 (based on 15 hours of training for Part 2).
